Workshop – Promoting Sustainability through Humanitarian Procurement: Development of a sustainability criteria framework

WORM Workshop #2 – Promoting Sustainability through Humanitarian Procurement: Development of a sustainability criteria framework

Description

The humanitarian sector faces increasing pressure and interest to integrate sustainability into procurement processes. As the world needs to cope with environmental challenges, a rise in conflict, and resource scarcity, sustainable procurement is essential to ensure that aid delivery minimises negative impacts on the environment and promotes social and economic benefits. Thus far, it has been challenging to build a consensus on practical criteria to enable sustainable procurement practices in the humanitarian sector. This workshop organised by Solvoz, WORM partner, gathers a diverse group of stakeholders to discuss the most effective ways to embed sustainability in the humanitarian procurement processes and work together to develop a holistic structure of the sustainability criteria adapted to in the humanitarian sector.
