On 29 July 2025, the Vietnam Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the Khanh Hoa Provincial Red Cross and the People’s Committee of Nam Ninh Hoa commune, organized the event “Together with Waste Collectors – Connecting Communities, Protecting the Environment”. This event aimed to:
1) Raise community awareness about the role of informal waste collectors in environmental protection and waste reduction
2) Strengthen the connection between communities and waste collectors, promoting the spirit of “Live Green – Live Clean”
3) Contribute to protecting coastal ecosystems, adapting to climate change, and promoting sustainable livelihoods
This event gathered 300 participants, including Red Cross volunteers, informal waste collectors, local media agencies and WORM partners.

Several activities took place during this campaign, including
- A seminar entitled “Listening to the Voices of Waste Collectors” to exchange on the realities of their work and their expectations
- A session on “Identifying hazardous waste, safe classification and collection methods“
- A collective coastal clean-up and the planting of one hectare of mangrove forest to restore ecosystems and enhance resilience to climate change
This local awareness campaign not only helped raise public consciousness about environmental protection and restoration, but also strengthened community bonds, paving the way towards sustainable waste management solutions that benefit both people and the planet.
