WORM – Local Awareness Campaign launch soon in Vietnam

In celebration of Global Recycling Day on March 18, our partner, the Vietnamese Red Cross Society, will launch its WORM local awareness campaign in two schools in Thai Nguyen Province on 17-18 March. This campaign, titled “Raising Community Awareness on Waste Management” aims to promote environmental protection at the local level through waste reduction, proper waste management, and raising awareness of the harmful effects of plastic and medical waste, among others.

By engaging key target groups, this initiative seeks to drive lasting behavioural change in waste management practices. Schools, in particular, play a crucial role in fostering green models and strengthening environmental protection activities.

Throughout the campaign, over 500 students will be engaged through awareness activities, alongside collaboration between local government authorities, organizations, associations, and Red Cross branches. The goal is to encourage proactive and creative initiatives for waste segregation at the source, waste reduction, and recycling.

To achieve this, the campaign will feature a range of activities, including a special event on March 18 to mark Global Recycling Day where Experts in waste management, reduction, and recycling will provide guidance on proper waste sorting techniques and highlight the benefits of waste segregation at the source. Additionally, within schools, activities such as tree planting, cleanup events, and waste collection drives will take place, encouraging student participation under the slogan “Green Day – Action for the Environment.”

Creative competitions—including drawing, video-making, and writing contests on environmental protection—will also be launched to make learning engaging and interactive. Finally, recycling points for materials such as plastic, paper, cans, and bottles will be established, complemented by cooperation with recycling units to ensure regular collection within the project’s timeframe, depending on the volume of waste in schools.

This campaign represents a significant step forward in the project’s mission to be a driving force for change. Make sure to follow us to stay updated!
